A Belarusian historian. He graduated from the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute. From 1992 to 2005 he was a senior fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He is the author of the following books published also in Polish: \u201cHistory of Belarus: From the earliest times to the end of the 18th century and Sources of historical memory of modern Belarus: The Return of Western Russianism\u201d, as well as the founder and editor-in-chief of the periodical \u201cBielaruski Histary\u010dny Ahliad\u201d, published since 1994. He is currently working at the University of Warsaw at the Centre for Belarusian Studies.
