Writer, journalist, and expert on Central and Eastern Europe. His articles and short stories have appeared in “New Eastern Europe”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”, “Polityka”, “<\/i>Ha!art”, “Lampa”,<\/i> and “Studium”. He has four published books: “Przyjdzie Mordor i nas zje, czyli tajna historia S\u0142owian” (Mordor\u2019s Coming to Eat Us: A Secret History of the Slavs) (Ha!art, 2013), “Rzeczpospolita zwyci\u0119ska” (The Triumphant Republic) (Wydawnictwo Znak, 2013), “Si\u00f3demka” (Highway No. 7) (Ha!art, 2015) and “Tatua\u017c z tryzubem” (Tattoo with a Trident) (Czarne, 2015). A refreshing voice in Polish literature, Szczerek\u2019s first book, “Przyjdzie Mordor i nas zje, czyli tajna historia S\u0142owian” (<\/i>Mordor\u2019s Coming to Eat Us: A Secret History of the Slavs), was highly acclaimed and won the prestigious Polityka Passport Award in 2013. The book was also nominated for the Nike Award and shortlisted for the Angelus Award.
