Art and Heritage in Central Europe<\/h1>

New exhibitions at MOCAK in Cracow are available from April 12, 2024:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. “Food in Art” is the 11th<\/sup> exhibition in MOCAK\u2019s flagship series “Civilisation in Art”, in which they confront important areas of life with the reflections of artists. They have previously looked at themes such as history, sport, economics, crime, gender, medicine, motherland, art, nature and politics. Food in this context has an exceptional position, since it is crucial to existence itself, which lends it significance in many areas of our lives. The exhibition presents the work of 66 artists from many different countries, exploring a variety of media such as painting, photography, video, object and installation.

  2. “Weaves: Contemporary Artistic Textiles from the MOCAK Collection” shows five textiles that are artistically eloquent and expressive. These are works by Faig Ahmed, Ry David Bradley, Emilia Bohdziewicz, Mona Hatoum and Ma\u0142gorzata Markiewicz. In recent years, one cannot fail to notice that contemporary artists have become increasingly more inclined to take up weaving as a medium that allows them to expand the form and scope of expression. Works made using this technique are also an important area of interest on the part of the MOCAK Collection.

  3. “Michel Kichka. Cartooning on the Frontline” shows a selection of the cartoons the artist drew about two different wars: a war in his motherland and a war in another country, far away from his home. Usually, in peaceful times, he draws with a smile, with sarcasm and gentle provocation. Since 7 October, the date of the barbaric attack on Israel by Hamas, the way he draws has changed. With his pencil and brush he tries to support his people, to give strength to the families of the hostages, to express his deep mourning to families who lost their mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters and brothers, to send his empathy to the wounded, to the traumatized and to those who have become refugees in their own country.
