{"id":10725,"date":"2024-09-30T12:01:59","date_gmt":"2024-09-30T10:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/herito.pl\/?p=10725"},"modified":"2024-09-30T12:02:01","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T10:02:01","slug":"exhibitions-at-the-national-gallery-in-prague-jiri-kolar-voila-la-femme-and-salome-femme-fatale-of-symbolism-and-decadence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/herito.pl\/en\/ahice-en\/exhibitions-at-the-national-gallery-in-prague-jiri-kolar-voila-la-femme-and-salome-femme-fatale-of-symbolism-and-decadence\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibitions at the National Gallery in Prague: &#8220;Ji\u0159\u00ed Kol\u00e1\u0159\u202f\u2013\u202fVoil\u00e0 la femme&#8221; and &#8220;Salome: Femme Fatale of Symbolism and Decadence&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"txtblock wow fadeIn\" data-wow-delay=\"0.2s\">\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n        <div class=\"row\">\r\n            <div class=\"col-xl-8 offset-xl-2 col-lg-10 offset-lg-1\">\r\n        <h1 class=\"wow fadeInUp\" data-wow-delay=\"0.2s\">Art and Heritage in Central Europe<\/h1>            <div class=\"txt wow fadeInUp\" data-wow-delay=\"0.3s\"><p>There are several new exhibitions at the National Gallery in Prague &#8211; among them there are two following:<\/p>\n<p>1. &#8220;Ji\u0159\u00ed Kol\u00e1\u0159\u202f\u2013\u202fVoil\u00e0 la femme&#8221; &#8211; available at the Trade Fair Palace from 27.09.2024 to 26.01.2025<\/p>\n<p>To mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of artist and poet Ji\u0159\u00ed Kol\u00e1\u0159 (1914\u20132002), the National Gallery Prague has prepared a graphic arts cabinet devoted to his collages from the 1960s and 1970s made from reproductions of famous works of art. A gripping mosaic of art history has been turned by the artist into a story of 20th-century visual art that is at once personal and a universal testimony to the times. Collages from the National Gallery\u2019s collections that have never been exhibited before are on display.<\/p>\n<p>The history of Kol\u00e1\u0159\u2019s collages provides a reminder of what it was like for a man to live in a world weighed down by dictatorship. As the 1970s gave way to a new decade, Ji\u0159\u00ed Kol\u00e1\u0159 left the country along with his wife B\u011bla and settled in Paris. B\u011bla Kol\u00e1\u0159ov\u00e1 then returned from France to Czechoslovakia in order to forestall the confiscation of their property, and for several years found herself forbidden to leave the country again. It is to B\u011bla Kol\u00e1\u0159ov\u00e1 and her journey that this modest exhibition is dedicated. Kol\u00e1\u0159 was convicted in absentia for emigrating and despite his and his wife\u2019s efforts several works from his collection were transferred to the National Gallery in Prague as property forfeited to the state. After the Velvet Revolution Ji\u0159\u00ed Kol\u00e1\u0159 donated the confiscated works to the gallery and became the first patron of the Society of Friends of the National Gallery in Prague.<\/p>\n<p>More information: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ngprague.cz\/en\/event\/4163\/jiri-kolar-voila-la-femme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.ngprague.cz\/en\/event\/4163\/jiri-kolar-voila-la-femme<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. &#8220;Salome: Femme Fatale of Symbolism and Decadence&#8221; &#8211; available at the Trade Fair Palace from 27.09.2024 to 12.01.2025<\/p>\n<p>The biblical Salome was a Jewish princess who, as a reward for the sensual dance she performed for King Herod, demanded the head of St John the Baptist. For artists at the turn of the twentieth century, she embodied the dangerous femme fatale who captivated men with her seductiveness.
