Emballage, Cricotage and Madame Jarema&#8221; is\u00a0the fifth presentation of Polish art organized by the Starak Family Foundation in Venice including presentations of the work of Ryszard Winiarski (2017), Ewa Kuryluk (2022) and Andrzej Wr\u00f3blewski (2024) as Collateral Events of the Venice Biennale.<br \/>\nThe exhibition, as a further Collateral Event takes place from May 9 to November 22, 2026, once again in the historic and highly prestigious venue of the Procuratie Vecchie in St. Mark\u2019s Square, the heart of Venice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor\">&#8220;Tadeusz Kantor (1915-1990). Emballage, Cricotage and Madame Jarema&#8221; is an exhibition devoted to the relationship and work of Tadeusz Kantor and Maria Jarema, leading representatives of the post-war avant-garde. Internationally acclaimed, Tadeusz Kantor was an artist whose work defined Polish identity in his impressive \u201cTheater of Love and Death\u201d giving it the dimension of a universal spectacle that seduced and fascinated audiences from Europe to Asia and the Americas. His theater, stage designs and directing, his modern understanding of acting combined with an extraordinary sensitivity touching on the most subtle strings of the human condition made the experience of his art interpreted with equal intensity regardless of where it was performed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor\">The exhibition in Venice will present the most important threads of Tadeusz Kantor\u2019s painting accompanied by\u00a0original props and objects from his performances, including a\u00a0selection of\u00a0<em>informel<\/em>\u00a0compositions from the late 1950s and early 1960s,\u00a0<em>emballages\u00a0<\/em>from 1964-1978, and his last painting series, \u201cDalej ju\u017c nic\u201d (<em>Further On, Nothing<\/em>) (1987\u20131990) and \u201cCholernie spadam\u201d ( I\u2019m Goddamn Falling!) (1988\u20131990). An important remembrance of the process of creating\u00a0<em>informel<\/em>\u00a0compositions will be the film\u00a0\u201cUwaga, malarstwo\u201d (Attention, Painting)\u00a0made by\u00a0Antoni Nurzy\u0144ski and Mieczys\u0142aw Wa\u015bkowski based on Kantor\u2019s concept. The film was presented for the first time during the 29th Venice Biennale and received a\u00a0mention at the 1st International Art Film Competition as the only work of a\u00a0non-didactic nature. Tadeusz Kantor was a\u00a0featured artists in the Polish Pavilion at the following edition of the Venice Biennale in 1960,<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor\">An important theme of the exhibition will be the presentation of the work of Maria Jarema (1908\u20131958).\u00a0As a\u00a0co-founder of the pre-war avant-garde theatre Cricot and co-founder of Cricot 2, she was one of the key formative figures for Kantor. Maria Jarema, an outstanding painter and sculptor, awarded a\u00a0prize at the Venice Biennale in 1958, remained the only person whose opinion Kantor fully trusted. Their relationship\u2014a fascination and intellectual partnership\u2014became the basis for the formation of Cricot 2. The exhibition will feature monotypes from the Starak Collection and her costume designs for Kantor\u2019s early theatre productions:\u00a0<em>M\u0105twa<\/em>\u00a0(The Cuttlefish) from 1956 and\u00a0<em>Cyrk<\/em>\u00a0(Circus) from 1957.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor\">The exhibition\u2019s content supporter is <a href=\"https:\/\/cricoteka.pl\/en_us\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CRICOTEKA \u2013\u00a0Centre for Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor<\/a>. Cricoteka was founded in Krakow in 1980 at the initiative of Tadeusz Kantor to\u00a0serve as a\u00a0living archive of the Cricot 2\u00a0Theater. Cricoteka stores, presents and safeguards the collection of theatrical works from Tadeusz Kantor\u2019s performances. Cricoteka is a\u00a0museum, an archive, a\u00a0gallery, and a\u00a0research center all in one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor\">The exhibition will feature works by\u00a0Tadeusz Kantor from the Starak Collection, Muzeum Sztuki in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, and the Cricoteka collection, as well as works by\u00a0Maria Jarema from the Starak Collection.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/starakfoundation.org\/en\/spectra\/news\/tadeusz_kantor_1915_1990_emballage_cricotage_and_madame_jarema0c0c76e1\">Tadeusz Kantor (1915-1990).
