Art and Heritage in Central Europe<\/h1>

ICC in Cracow invites you to the exhibition that will introduce the work of the War Graves Department in Krakow (Kriegsgr\u00e4berabteilung Krakau, abbreviated as KGA), responsible for the construction of military cemeteries during World War I. It will also revive the interest in the work of artists who cooperated with KGA \u2013 architects, painters, sculptors, graphic designers, and photographers from various countries of the monarchy.<\/p>\n

The exhibition presents the works of famous artists such as Du\u0161an Jurkovi\u010d, Henryk Uziemb\u0142o or Alfons Karpi\u0144ski, but also those less known, discovered only in the last decade. The second group includes, among others, Hans Mayr, Gustaw Ludwig, and Heinrich Scholz. It shows works addressing the military and everyday issues, including sketches documenting the life in the barracks, landscapes, battlefields, temporary burial sites, genre sketches, leaflets, and medals. Among particularly interesting exhibits are gouaches and watercolours with the views of Krakow and Galicia by the Viennese landscape painter Franz Poledny, etchings by Robert Pochop, Reinhold V\u00f6lkel\u2019s watercolours with views of war cemeteries, and Henryk Uziemb\u0142o\u2019s oil and watercolour sketches to the now lost panorama \u201cGorlice 1915\u201d.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was prepared in collaboration with Ma\u0142opolska Provincial Office in Krak\u00f3w. It is available from October 7 to December 4, 2022.<\/p>\n
