Art and Heritage in Central Europe<\/h1>

After over fifty years, this exhibition shows the work of the most important Baroque artist in Bohemia \u2060\u2013\u2060 Petr Brandl (1668 Prague – 1735 Kutn\u00e1 Hora). It presents his monumental altarpieces, which have been restored specially for the occasion, as well as his portraits and genre paintings of very interesting subject matter. Visitors will also see newly discovered works by Brandl for the very first time.
\nThe exhibition is organized around two parallel narratives: the painter\u2019s works and his life. Brandl was the\u00a0highest-paid artist of\u00a0his time, probably because of\u00a0his very distinctive and original style of\u00a0painting, in\u00a0which we can trace certain parallels with Rembrandt. X-rays and macro-photographs of\u00a0Brandl\u2019s works complement the\u00a0exhibition to\u00a0give visitors a\u00a0glimpse into the\u00a0inner workings of\u00a0his painting.
