Agnieszka Zabłocka-Kos
A professor at the Institute of Art History of the University of Wrocław, an architect and an architectural historian. She studies the architecture and urban development of the historicist era, Modernism, and post-war Modernism in Europe, especially in Silesia. She has written a monograph on the architect Alexis Langer, a book on the history of Wrocław architecture in the first half of the 19th century (Zrozumieć miasto. Centrum Wrocławia na drodze ku nowoczesnemu miastu 1807–1858 – Understanding the city. The centre of Wrocław on the path to a modern city 1807–1858) as well as numerous articles, including essays for the magazine Zawód: Architekt. She practises an interdisciplinary approach, presenting the history of architecture against a broad political and social background. She currently holds a scholarship at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies, where she is conducting a project called “Political architecture in Central Europe in the 19th century”.
