Exhibition “Homing. Włodzimierz Puchalski” in Stalowa Wola
Art and Heritage in Central Europe
On February 14, 2025 in the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola took place the opening of the exhibition “Domowroty. Włodzimierz Puchalski”, presenting outstanding achievements of one of the pioneers of Polish nature photography. This exhibition was first presented at the International Cultural Centre (Cracow) in 2022, and the authors of the concept and preparation of the exhibition were Andriy Bojarov, Monika Rydiger (ICC) and Aneta Slowikowska (Niepołomice Museum).
The exhibition in Stalowa Wola will last until June 29, 2025, and will be an opportunity to explore the extraordinary achievements of the artist, who for decades shaped the sensitivity of Poles to the beauty of the surrounding nature. It also recalls Puchalski’s ties to the region: in 1940-1944 he lived and worked as a forester in the settlement of Brzóza near Radomysl nad Sanem. He ended up there as a fugitive from German captivity, thanks to the help of the Chrzanowski family from Krakow, who were friends with him. During the occupation, he managed a local landed estate, fought illegal logging, and was active in the resistance movement in the Lublin region.
The exhibition is co-organized by the Niepołomice Royal Castle Museum in Niepołomice, and its partner is the International Cultural Centre in Cracow.
