Exhibition “The Impermanent. Four Takes on the Collection” at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw

Art and Heritage in Central Europe

The MSN Warsaw collection is made up of artworks and documents testifying to the changes occurring in the visual arts over the last seven decades in Poland and around the world. The works presented in the exhibition all come from the same historical period, from the 1950s to the present. Among the works from the museum’s own collection, visitors will also find significant works from the collections of other institutions and private collections.

The MSN Warsaw collection also includes artists’ archives and the museum’s Filmoteka, a collection of hundreds of films. The collected works reflect a great diversity of media and artistic approaches, and convey the dynamism of artists’ engagement in the life of the society, the flow of information, and the development of new technologies.

This exhibition is “impermanent” not only because it runs only until the autumn of 2025, but first and foremost because the canon of contemporary artworks is not fixed, but remains in constant motion. The presentation of works from the MSN Warsaw collection is accompanied by an extensive program of events: tours, meetings, workshops, and performative interventions. They invite you to get to know their collection “in action.”
The exhibition is curated by Sebastian Cichocki, Tomasz Fudala, Magda Lipska, Szymon Maliborski, Łukasz Ronduda and Natalia Sielewicz. It presents over 150 artworks grouped into 4 sections. It is available at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw from 21.02 to 05.10. 2025.
