“In the Eye of the Storm. Secession in Ukraine” Exhibition at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava

Art and Heritage in Central Europe

The exhibition presents 50 works of secession art, a movement that culminated in Europe in around 1900 and extended to the territory of today’s Ukraine.

The exhibition project is held in collaboration with the Belvedere Gallery in Vienna, the National Gallery in Sofia, the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv, and other Ukrainian collections. The project was initiated by the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid to express support for Ukraine and to protect its artworks from the Russian invasion. The exhibition at the SNG was initiated by Belvedere, Vienna.

The exhibited works are part of the collections of the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv, the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv, the Dnipro Art Museum, the Mykola Yaroshenko Art Museum in Poltava, and a private collection. For the duration of the exhibition, all citizens of Ukraine will have free access to the gallery upon presentation with Ukrainian documents.

The exhibition at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava is available from 22/6/2024 to 22/9/2024.
