Art and Heritage in Central Europe

Check out current temporary exhibitions at the National Museum in Wrocław:

1. “Adapted Objects” from 17 February to 25 August 2024

What is the attitude of the present inhabitants of Wrocław and Szczecin to the pre-war heritage of their cities? Are there any pre-war objects in their immediate surroundings? How did they get there? What is their place in the hierarchy of things? This exhibition attempts to answer such questions. It showcases photographs taken by Łukasz Skąpski, as well as items on loan from private residents of Wrocław and Szczecin. The other element of the exhibition are extracts from interviews conducted during the ethnographic-artistic project in 2019–2022 in both cities.

3. “Impressions. The Young on Old Art” from 19 March to 19 May 2024

This is the first exhibition in the history of the National Museum in Wrocław prepared by young people from this city, who take on the role of museum curators. Around 70 works of art were selected from the MNWr collection, and the young curators wrote special texts to accompany some of the pieces on display. The exhibition tries to shed light on what are the thoughts, feelings and dreams of young people nowadays, and what they are looking for in the art from the past.
