Art and Heritage in Central Europe

Institute of Art History and the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb organise a scientific conference on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of a great art historian, Doris Baričević (1923-2016). The results of her research are indispensable in the study of sculptures and altars of the 17th and 18th centuries on the territory of continental Croatia, and have confirmed their relevance in the international context as well. The conference to be held in Zagreb on the 7th and 8th of September 2023 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Inspired by the monumental scientific impact of Doris Baričević, they would like the presentations on the art of the 17th and 18th centuries with new insights and perspectives on the heritage of Baroque sculptures and altars to be in memory of the impressive scientific legacy of this eminent art historian.

Please note that organisers cannot compensate the participants for travel and accommodation expenses in Zagreb, and online presentations will only be enabled under special circumstances. There is no registration fee for participation in the scientific conference. The papers from the conference are planned to be published in a peer-reviewed publication.

You are invited you to submit presentation proposals to the e-mail address skup-baricevic@ipu.hr by the 31st of March 2023. Applicants will be notified about the acceptance of their presentation by the 15th of April 2023.
